Water Horse Kelpie Vintage Art Necklace
Sterling silver pendant and chain, vintage artwork of a water horse, kelpie or bäckahäst. The water horse appears in folklore of several regions including the British Isles and Scandanavia. It seems friendly and has an enchanting gaze, but will lure people into the water and drown them. Although the horse can be tricked and bridled, it can never be tamed and will escape if it gets the chance. 1909 pd artwork by Norwegian artist Theodor Kittelsen.
