Weeping Willow Sympathy Card

The snow-covered weeping willow mirrors the sentiment of loss while on the inside of the card the spring-blooming tree expresses the hope of healing and renewal. It was originally published under the pseudonym Ellis Bell in Poems by Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell (London, 1846). The images were inspired by the backdrop of an illustration by George Barbier (of a Jeanne Paquin dress) in the Gazette du Bon Ton (1912, issue 2).
