White Lily Stationery

White Lily Stationery

White Lily is a brush painting in traditional Chinese "gongbi" style. Watercolor and ink on rice paper. The lily is called 百合 in Chinese, which is pronounced as bǎi hé, which has the symbolic meaning of "happy union for one hundred years”. The lily is the flower of love in China, therefor Chinese lilies are great presents for women on their wedding day. The flower also represents a bringer of sons and traditionally Chinese culture favors boys in the family. Lilies also represent good fortune and happiness and are even used to solve difficult situations or problems. The flower painting is peculiar to China. All kinds of flowers and plants were given various symbolic meanings. Flowers can be compared to almost all thoughts and feelings of human being. They can symbolize feminine beauty, virtues, political authority, omens, and lucky niceness. And once established, this tradition became popular in every dynasty. Therefore their symbolic meaning grow increasingly rich and specific In China the calligraphy always belongs to the painting. It’s like the signature from the artist. This one is without the original callygraphy!
