Whiteface Mountain over Little Cherrypatch Pond Square Wall Clock

Fall Foliage with Whiteface Mountain in the Adirondacks View of Whiteface Mountain over Little Cherry Patch Pond just outside Lake Placid in North Elba on the road to Wilmington (Route 86). Clearly visible is the castle / weather station on top, portions of the ski area, and on the left flank a portion of the large slide that defines the mountain's western slope. The image was taken in October 2011, on a beautifully clear autumn afternoon with a nice blue sky and a bright showing of the fall foliage. Whiteface Mountain, located in the town of Wilmington, NY, is the fifth-highest mountain in New York State, and is one of the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. Set on the northern edge of the region, it is isolated from many other high peaks and is one of the most photographed features of the area. From the summit it offers spectacular views in all directions. There is a toll road to the top that is popular with tourists, and it is home to one of the main ski resorts in the state.
