William Morris Red Marigold Pattern with Initial Giant Coffee Mug

William Morris was a British textile designer, printer, artist, novelist, translator and activist associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement. He was influential in the revival of traditional British textile arts production. His work is also heavily associated with the Art Nouveau movement. The most commonly known version of the Marigold print is in green, but the textile piece in the Art Institute of Chicago's collection is a vintage red color. The art appears to have texture or depth, but it's just simulated and printed flat.
