William Morris Trellis Classic Wallpaper Design Planner

Step back to the origins of the Arts and Crafts Movement with the iconic Trellis pattern. Designed by William Morris in 1862, this was the first wallpaper design he ever produced, inspired by the rose trellis in the garden of his famous Red House in Kent. The design features a structured wooden trellis draped with climbing rose briars, vibrant pink blossoms, and lush green leaves. Adding a charming narrative element, small garden birds flit through the framework, a detail originally drawn for Morris by his lifelong friend and architect, Philip Webb. This pattern perfectly captures the early Victorian transition toward a more organic, "honest" style of decoration that celebrated the English garden. With its warm parchment background and timeless garden motif, the Trellis design is ideal for creating a sophisticated, historic atmosphere. It is a must-have for collectors of British heritage art and those who love the classic "English Country House" aesthetic.
