William Morris Vintage Blackthorn Pattern Rug
This is a digitally enhanced print derived from an antique 1892 block printed Blackthorn pattern designed by William Morris. William Morris was a Victorian era poet, novelist, textile designer and an important figure of the British Arts and Crafts Movement. His designs had a medieval-inspired aesthetic and respect for hand-craftsmanship and traditional textile arts. He was the founding figure of Morris & Co., and Kelmscott Press. He was friends to many Pre-Raphaelite artists such as Edward Burne-Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti. You can customize the size of the pattern. Although the default background color is derived from the original design, you can customize this color to fit your decor.

I was pleasantly surprised with the clarity and level of detail as well as the sharpness of color. I was not sure what to expect with the texture of the rug and found it soft, easy to clean, and not losing any fuzz (which my woolen rugs all do). There were a few wrinkles in the fabric once I unrolled it and I was worried that they might not go away. The good news is that once it was flat on the ground and I vacuumed over it he wrinkles had vanished. The printing is really good. The details are sharp and clear and the colors are vibrant. I have always wanted a William Morris rug to go with my Mission style living room and this one is just beautiful! I can also say that having seen the quality first hand, I am pleased to offer the other rugs I have made in my Beatrix Potter Nursery and Kids Room Decor Collection, and feel confident in their quality.
