This design is based on an actual bat. Bats are generally nocturnal creatures and they are among the most fascinating animals on the planet. Not only are they mostly nocturnal, they are also more maneuverable than birds and are the only known mammals that are naturally capable of true and sustained flight. There are various species of bats and while most bats feed on fruits and insects, some species are known to feed on other animals as well. Hence, the name 'vampire bats.'
