With Fondest Xmas Greetings Postcard

This Victorian charmer has four little girls, each holding a lantern marked with a different letter. Here's a little history lesson: the use of Xmas, rather than Christmas, is not a form of disrespect to Christmas, or the Lord or whatevs. At the time of this usage, people were very aware of the admonition not to use the Lord's name in vain, and for many this extended to the word 'Christmas.' Also, Christmas was not the all-encompassing yearly hemorrhage of money that is expected of people celebrating Christmas today. The average Christmas gift for nearly everyone in the mid-to-late 19th century, at least in the US, and except for the very wealthy, was an orange. Thus ends our history lesson.
