Steve Riedel is portrayed on the Bering Sea Gold Show as someone who really doesn't know what he is doing. He plays the part well, as he is inexperienced both as a diver and as a gold-miner. But he has a lot of fun and helps make the show a success with his unusual character. This design makes a humorous point of the difficulty Steve has in finding gold. It shows him very innocently explaining that he's been seriously looking for gold, even though he has done nothing more than wonder where it is, and casually look over the side of his dredge to see if he can see any gold from there.
