World Environment Day (WED) is an international day of environmental awareness and action that happens on 5th June each year. Started in 1974 by the United Nations, WED is hosted in a different country each year, with events focusing on a central theme. WED is an important example of how people should care for the environment, raising awareness of the increasing levels of pollution, human overpopulation and climate change.
