[600] Master Mason - Silver Square & Compasses Magnet

[600] Master Mason - Silver Square & Compasses Magnet

Introducing “Ancient Brotherhoods” Collection by Serge Averbukh, showcasing heraldry and insignia of various historical brotherhoods, societies and orders. Here you will find pieces featuring a 3rd Degree Mason Silver Jewel - Master Mason Square and Compasses The Square and Compasses (or, more correctly, a square and a set of compasses joined together) is the single most identifiable symbol of Freemasonry. Freemasonry is a fraternal organization that arose from obscure origins in the late 16th to early 17th century. Freemasonry now exists in various forms all over the world, with a membership estimated at around six million. The fraternity is administratively organized into independent Grand Lodges or sometimes Orients, each of which governs its own jurisdiction, which consists of subordinate (or constituent) Lodges. There are also appending bodies, which are organizations related to the main branch of Freemasonry, but with their own independent administration. The Square and Compass or sometimes known as “The Light” is also representative of the 3rd degree in a Freemason’s level of achievement. Once a mason has reached the 3rd degree, he becomes a Master Mason. Both the square and compasses are architect's tools and are used in Masonic ritual as emblems to teach symbolic lessons. Some Lodges and rituals explain these symbols as lessons in conduct. However, as Freemasonry is non-dogmatic, there is no general interpretation for these symbols (or any Masonic symbol) that is used by Freemasonry as a whole. As measuring instruments, the tools represent judgment and discernment. In English speaking jurisdictions the Square and Compasses are often depicted with the letter "G" in the center. The letter is interpreted to represent different words jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Among the most widely accepted interpretations are that: [G] stands for God, and is to remind Masons that God is at the center of Freemasonry. In this context it can also stand for Great Architect of the Universe (a reference to God). In a different context, the letter stands for Geometry, described as being the "noblest of sciences", and "the basis upon which the superstructure of Freemasonry is erected."

My friend loves her daughter-in-law and I wanted her to have a magnet of the two of them together to put on her fridge. The picture was so clear and made so well. I'm sure they both loved it!

This is a very small refrigerator magnet (with artwork and text to be provided, and arranged using the ZAZZLE web site software, by the customer), and I would like to have a larger size. I ordered a quantity of eight refrigerator magnets. I think that they should have been individually packaged in order to prevent one item from scratching the other during transit. However, none of the items appeared upon arrival to have been scratched. The magnetic force is adequate to hold two sheets of good-quality bond paper securely against a refrigerator or metal filing cabinet, with one sheet in front of the other. I think that the durability of the refrigerator magnets is adequate—I have handled the magnets, and attached them to, and detached them from, a refrigerator while exercising reasonable care, and have encountered no failures. I see no evidence of demagnetization (i.e., loss of magnet strength). I am very pleased with these refrigerator magnets, as are the people to whom I have given them as small and inexpensive gifts. I recommend these refrigerator magnets, and would not hesitate to purchase them again in the future. One always feels very fortunate when one receives a purchased item, and finds it to be as good-looking as on the merchant’s web site. I was not disappointed in any way—I am delighted with the image and text resolution (sharpness and clarity) and the beauty and fidelity of the colors (hues and saturation). The refrigerator magnet is assembled from two parts: (1) The magnet, and (2) a relatively thin metal shell upon which the images and text are printed. The metal shell initially has a square shape, but then wedges of metal are cut away at each of the four corners, so that the shape of the metal shell then resembles a cross, with four short, stocky fingers. The images and text are then printed onto the metal shell with great clarity, because the entire metal shell is perfectly planar at this stage of the manufacturing process. Any portions of the images or text which happen to extend into the fingers will have the same clarity as at the middle of the cross. Then the fingers are folded around the magnet to complete the assembly of the refrigerator magnet. When I created my design, I crowded text very close to the upper and lower edges of the design boundaries, so that the text did indeed extend somewhat onto the fingers as the design was being printed, causing some portions of the text to wrap around the upper and lower edges of the completed refrigerator magnet when the final assembly was performed. This looks okay to me, because the text is still easily readable.
