On July 16th, 1969, with the world watching in nervous anticipation, a pillar of fire erupted from Kennedy Space Center. The colossal Saturn V rocket, the most powerful machine ever built at the time, thundered skyward, carrying a spacecraft with three astronauts on a historic journey. The ground trembled, buildings shook, and a plume of orange smoke engulfed the launchpad as humanity's first lunar voyage began. - This file is in the public domain in the United States because it was solely created by NASA. NASA copyright policy states that "NASA material is not protected by copyright unless noted".
