Cabo Polonio is a remote, off-the-grid hamlet located within a national park in the Rocha Department. Famous for its massive sand dunes and its lack of electricity and running water for most residents, it offers a rugged, bohemian escape from modern life. The town is dominated by its tall lighthouse, which stands guard over a rocky cape inhabited by one of the largest sea lion colonies in South America. The landscape is wild and windswept, defined by the crashing Atlantic waves and the stark beauty of the shifting dunes.
