Silvesterklausen is an old tradition in Appenzell, where men, known as the "Silvesterkläuse", drag through the villages in artistic costumes and masks to mark the beginning of the new year. This tradition takes place on 31 December and 13 January and dates back to pagan rituals aimed at evil spirits being driven out and bringing happiness and blessing for the coming year.

Before purchasing, I contacted Naomi about the recommended size and layout. She recommended the single page so that the front cover will look right. She also recommended either the small or medium size. I purchased the medium size calendar, single page layout per month, and I love it! The photos are beautiful! I understand that the smaller size is 11" x 7" and I wanted something larger than that. The medium size measures 16.5" x 10.75". The images look great!
