Coati T-Shirt

Living in Tapuio is not easy. The road is horrible. Hunters roam about, firing guns at all hours. My house is far from what I'd like it to be. It can get to you. One day, when feeling particularly down, I decided to go to town. While walking down the mountain, reconsidering my decision to move here, three adolescent coatis tumbled out of the brush and coffee to walk alongside me. They walked with me halfway down the trail. Maybe there was something in the brush they wanted to avoid. Maybe they sensed my mood and wanted to cheer me up! While it was probably the former, I'd like to think it was the latter. It worked. My mood brightened. I have loved these amazing creatures ever since. Coatis are inquisitive, cautious, and fiercely protective of their friends and family. Groups of up to 40 occasionally pass through the area on their way to wherever they go. Older solitary males will sometimes show up at the house looking for an easier meal. Coatis are among my favorite Tapuio residents. Don't you just love that face?
