Eastern Chipmunks are actually little squirrels. They climb trees like champions! Their home is an underground series of tunnels with multiple entrances, and they are immaculate housekeepers. There is a refuse tunnel just for toileting and garbage. Chipmunks cache food for the winter, carry nuts and seeds in their cheek pouches to underground storage areas. They are not true hibernators, and they will be out and about on sunny, winter days.
