Embaúba trees are among my favorites. I love their large palmate leaves that clap in the slightest breeze. I love how they are able to grow in the harshest and most disturbed areas. I love how they feed every living creature in the forest. Unfortunately, not everybody shares my enthusiasm. Tapuio is a real area, but it is also representative of every small rural area ignored by biologists, ravaged by hunters and farmers, destroyed with little compensation. I am trying to raise awareness about this area, and by doing so, raise awareness about every small spot of forest often ignored by those who work to save forests and wildlife, ignored because it is not seen as pristine enough, not comfortable enough, not remote enough. Tapuio represents the overwhelming majority of devastated spaces, devastated wildlife areas, around the world.
