Ephesus Postcard
Library of Celsus, Ephesus (Turkish: Efes, Hittite: Apasa, Ancient Greek: Ἔφεσος) is a Ionian city located near the Cayster River (Küçük Menderes) on the Aegean Coast. The Library of Celsus was built by Gaius Julius Aquila to commemorate his father, Tiberius Celsus Polomaenus. Both of them were consuls. The library served to hold 12000 scrolls and also the tomb of Celsus. (It was a honor to be buried -dead- in a library.)
