Faces Of Goodbye – Skillful Suppression Azure

Don't go – Skillful Suppression is one of multiple 'Faces of Don't go' poems/writings that focuses on those times when one chooses to conceal feelings that might result in detouring departure plans of someone cherished. The series of Faces of Don’t Go products is a subset of the series, Faces Of Goodbye which focuses on the various circumstances when “Goodbye” is necessary. The companion poem, “Sealed For Eternity” speaks to the finality of some Goodbyes. This, “Skillful Suppression” version is not part of any stories I currently have on my writing workbench, but reminds that there are situations where parting means there is a great chance that “Goodbye is the last word ever heard. There is the story of a young man leaving the country to be a missionary long before airplanes and steam ships. That Father’s “Goodbye” came knowing there was a great chance that it was the last word they would speak. In other cases, “Don’t go” might mean that a parent says goodbye to a child leaving for college knowing that who comes home will no longer be a child, but an adult. In such cases love, duty, and responsibility overrules emotion and “Don’t go” is skillfully suppressed.
