It is a member of the Snakeheads family and is also known as the Bullseye Snakehead. It is native from India to China, south to Thailand, Cambodia and Pakistan. It is usually found only in deep pools in rivers and occasionally in lakes. It feeds on fish, frogs, snakes, insects, earthworms and tadpoles and there are reports of it feeding on water birds, snakes, and rodents. It can reach a maximum length of 183 cm (6 feet) and a maximum published weight of 30 kg (66.1 pounds).
