Luncheon of the Boating Party (1881). Artist: Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919). Luncheon of the Boating Party is a vintage impressionism fine art painting featuring a group of Renoir's friends having a casual lunch party and relaxing on a balcony at the restaurant Maison Fournaise along the Seine river in Chatou, France. Fellow artist Gustave Caillebotte is seated in the lower right. Renoir's future wife Aline Charigot is in the foreground playing with a small dog. About the artist: Pierre-Auguste Renoir an artist who was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. Renoir's paintings are notable for their vibrant light and saturated color, most often focusing on people in intimate and candid compositions.
