Margaret Chase Smith Conscience Cube Ornament

emember Margaret Chase Smith with this six-sided wooden cube ornament from the Historic Moments in Maine Collector Series. Design 18 of 20 commemorates a declaration of conscience, associated with United States Senate on June 1, 1950. Maine Senator Margaret Chase Smith delivered her Declaration of Conscience on June 1, 1950. She condemned fear, smear and reckless political accusations while defending principles of free debate. Across its coordinated faces, the ornament combines a richly detailed traditional oil-painting scene with the event name, location, date, concise historical context and collector-series number. Forest green, antique gold and weathered parchment styling give it the character of a miniature illustrated history book. A distinctive Maine keepsake for history collectors, regional families and admirers of New England heritage. Independent commemorative artwork created for Fryeburg Maine Gifts; not affiliated with or endorsed by a museum, municipality, government agency or historic site.
