About This Design

Mug: The Lantern Bearers - Maxfield Parrish Mug

"The Lantern Bearers" was painted by the American Artist Maxfield Parrish in 1908. It is an oil on canvas laid down on board. Parrish's paintings are a combination of fantasy landscapes and fairy tales, with saturated color and luminosity. He would apply bright layers of thin oil paint, alternating with varnish over stretched paper to get the luminous effects he was known for. He would often build depth by cutting out images and adding them to his paper, coating them with layers of glaze.

This is a gorgeous mug that makes me feel as though I am outdoors in my Hosta garden, on a beautiful day in Spring! The printing is lovely and sharp just like my painting. I shall be displaying this mug at an exhibition soon!

I love these cups!! I'm glad I ordered them and would definitely order from here again. I got 50 cups and they came within a reasonable time frame.

I designed the mug for my sister because the Gauguin painting holds a special meaning for her. It arrived on time and the overall quality of the mug exceeded my expectations. Vibrant colors, true to the original. I just received, so I can't say how the colors will hold up over time.
