I saw this ptarmigan snacking on branches on the Haines Summit, between Haines Junction Yukon and Haines, Alaska. The white feathers of the ptarmigan make him almost invisible in the snow. In the summer his feathers turn brown and grey again, to blend in with the summer ground cover. Original Photography by Krista Funk.
