It originally was a multidimensional symbol for the changing of the seasons / life, death, rebirth (autumn, winter, spring) / maiden, mother, and crone / land, sea, air. The Trinity Knot Medallion by Ravensdaughter Designs Celtic Art uses this ancient symbol as the basis for a modern "Celtic Fusion" pattern, which pairs ancient artwork with a modern esthetic.
