About This Design

Red Sea Star - Postcard

Red Sea Star - Postcard

The African Red Knobby Sea Stars have dull spines, bumps or knobs on their dorsal surface often in contrasting Reds, Burgundy’s and oranges on a gray or tan body. This species is hardy but is an aggressive feeder and will be more than happy to mount and consume sessile invertebrates including clams, urchins, oysters, anemones, and all manner of corals (soft and stony). It is also known to prey on sleeping, slow or weak fish. If it can catch it, it will eat it. It is on the Restricted Species List. Protoreaster lincki – Red Knob: Also called: Red-Knobbed Sea Star, Red Spine Star, African Star, African Red-Knobbed Sea Star. Native to the Indian Ocean. The ocean floor off the private Island of Chumbe in the Indian Ocean is covered with these Red Sea Stars. Photograph of Red Sea Star taken by Ashley Haddad.

I had never seen these classic science fiction images and most of my friends have not seen them either. They are like little treasures! Amazing quality and fun to send people!

I joined Postcrossing a few months ago and wanted postcards to represent my state well. I found them on Zazzle. I purchased numerous cards and was impressed with all of them. Excellent! The colors are beautiful. The cards have the exact look I wanted. I couldn't be happier.
