AEF_Eagles

American Eagle Foundation (AEF) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization based in Kodak, Tennessee, committed to the conservation, education, and protection of birds of prey, with a particular focus on the Bald Eagle, America’s national symbol. Founded in 1985, AEF cares for approximately 80 non-releasable birds, including the world’s largest population of non-releasable Bald Eagles, which reside at Eagle Mountain Sanctuary inside Dollywood. All of our resident birds are non-releasable due to permanent physical disabilities or human imprinting. AEF carries its outreach programs into schools, parks, veteran organizations, and corporate events through engaging bird-of-prey presentations featuring our non-releasable raptors. At Dollywood, our Wings of America birds of prey show has educated millions of visitors, delivering a fast-paced and always entertaining experience. Our Avian Care team members are both knowledgeable and personable, sharing meaningful stories about each bird and the important role its species plays in the ecosystem. In 2021, our outreach expanded into virtual platforms, enabling us to reach audiences across the country through Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other online channels. AEF operates one of the nation’s most recognized Wild Eagle Nest Cam program. These nest cams provide an intimate, real-time window into the lives of nesting Bald Eagles in the wild, allowing viewers of all ages to observe courtship, nesting, egg laying, and chick development while developing a greater appreciation for wildlife conservation. AEF has built a nearly four-decade legacy of conservation leadership and public education across the United States. Through immersive experiences—whether on-site, in the community, online, or in the field—AEF fosters a deeper understanding of the ecological and cultural significance of birds of prey and inspires future conservationists to join us in our mission to Conserve, Educate, and Protect.
