Hello everyone, I have been painting & drawing for fifty years or more. I have been deeply moved by the American impressionist movement of the 1890's, & while living in Connecticut I made it my business to study this style very closely first hand. The library were I was living had some paintings by "Will Howe Foot" for instance. So I got a chance to observe and absorb the surface qualities of the oil painting medium. Another excellent area was Old Lyme Connecticut, where several artists had work on display at the "Ann Griswold House". In my late teenage years I was strongly influenced by the "Wyeths", and emulated their style for a while until I decided it was more important to develop my own art style. So one could say that my present style has a mix of both impressionism and realism. Hope you enjoy my galleries as I will be adding more each week. John Foflygen,
