Nabil Mokhtar is an Irish-Egyptian expressionist painter born in Alexandria. He lectured in architecture at Cairo before coming to Ireland to create crafts inspired by Celtic heritage and design,While recuperating from a heart attack in 2007, Mokhtar discovered his next great love: painting. Over the years, he has moved from watercolour landscapes to expressionist pieces carved from the vivid wax of encaustic paints - a technique first developed by the ancient pharaohs of his native Egypt.
