My brother has for years given me a subscription to the Atlantic Magazine as a Christmas gift including access to their online articles. On July 1, 2025, they ran an article entitled "What a ‘Spiral of Silence’ Can Do to a Democracy" by Betsy Levy Paluck. In it the author argues that not expressing opinions leaves other people who share similar opinions thinking they are alone in having them. I had the idea that bumper stickers could help people feel like they are not alone, that maybe a lot of people shared their opinion, and give people the courage to take a stand and not remain silent. All profits will go to the ACLU as it seems the courts are our last stand.
