Painting the Coast of California with its big blue Pacific Ocean and the rolling hills and cliffs is what captures the eye in these images. Vivid colors and magical skies are found in this series of paintings. Big Sur, Morro Bay, Santa Margarita and many more beautiful vistas of the Central Coast of California are painted in the bright colors of the seasons as they change along this part of California. Steven Mills was born in Santa Monica, California and was raised in Southern California in the 50's, Hawaii in the 60's,eventually landing on the central coast in the mid-70's, after a tour in the navy, to my advantage my family always like to live by the ocean which had a profound impact on the type of subjects that I like to paint, with coastal themes being the main focus in most of my paintings. The coast of California has a large variety of subject matter, from the magnificent coastline to the golden fields of summer. Steven Mills
