Storytelling mizrah flat notecard

"Storytelling Mizrah": A plaque bearing this word ('east') often adorns the eastern wall of Jewish homes to direct our gaze and hearts toward Zion. The design was created in honor of the bat-mitzvah (2003) of Molly Braun. It includes characters from Molly’s favorite Jewish folktales and stories. From the right: the magic pitcher (Iraq), Honi and the carob tree (Ta’anit 23a), the necklace of Number the Stars (Lois Lowry), the treasure chest of Simple Shmerel (Solomon Simon), the hoopoe bird (Midrash), Maus (Art Spiegelman), the shamir who cut the Temple stones (Sotah 48b), the horse of Chelm (Solomon Simon), the fox and Rabbi Akiva (Berakhot 61b), the spider who saved King David (Alphabet of Ben Sira), the diamond tree (Morocco), Joseph who loved the Sabbath (Shabbat 119A) and Briar Rose (Jane Yellen).
