Toto meguro yuhhigaoka Hiroshige ga.
Japanese print shows a view of Mount Fuji from Meguro in Tokyo, with red maple trees in the foreground. Born in Edo, Japan, Hiroshiges family name was Tokitaro, but he adopted the name of his mentor as per the custom of the time. His first work was a sketch of a procession done at the age of ten, and earned him the title of a prodigy. In 1828, Hiroshige began his own studio, but eventually moved to Kyoto to produce landscapes. His prints became very popular and emulated upon his return to Edo.
