Isabeau of Bavaria was a particularly controversial Queen of France. Her husband Charles VI was mentally ill, and Isabeau struggled to maintain control of France. She was accused of having an affair with her husband's cousin and neglecting her children. The country descended in to civil war, which was made worse as they were also at war with England. She eventually retired from court and died in 1435.
