King Louis XI is known as the "Universal Spider" due to the numerous intrigues and political plots he was involved in, both as heir to the throne and as King.
However one of his greatest accomplishments was to come up with a peace treaty with King Edward IV of England, which officially ended the Hundred Years War between England and France.
His death in 1483 led to his eldest son becoming King aged 13. However Louis' eldest daughter Anne proved to be an excellent Regent for her younger brother.
