In a few weeks, you’ll have friends and family asking about wedding dates and locations, and most importantly, who they can bring! People-pleasing can be an issue when it comes to inviting wedding guests, and this is topped off by the added pressure from family members insisting others have to be invited. Lastly, you have to worry about the list of people who invited you to their weddings, and you feel the pressure to invite them as well. A Spark of Imagination!
Sunday, February 26th, 2023
It's a special day today – Tell a Fairy Tale Day! For Today's Moment, and in light of the occasion, we're going to share a unique story with you.
Once upon a time, there was a family of squirrels that lived in a gorgeous forest called Redwood. They were a happy family of squirrels with Daddy Squirrel teaching his sons (Sonny and Sully) the ins and outs of growing up. Due to the wildfires and timber harvesting, the little family of squirrels were constantly on the move. Daddy squirrel tried to think of ways to claim their food and belongings away from the pesky hands of the other squirrels.
One day, while Daddy Squirrel was out foraging for food, he came across a tree that had been scratched at by an animal. It looked to be in the form of a Z, and an idea hit him. As in, it literally hit him, when a hazelnut fell from the tree and broke in half. He could create a mark on their belongings and even make them unique with different designs.
He soon ran home and asked his sons if they could think of anything to draw on their den furniture. His sons spent hours trying to come up with original creations and soon realized different stones helped create dark- and light-shaded wood to brighten up their den. That night, when all the squirrels in the forest came to eat their dinner, Daddy Squirrel shared his special idea with the others and gave their den a new name: 'Den-ize,' as they had customized their den!
Lol. Okay so, we've shared our fairy tale. Now feel free to use your imagination and tell your tales!

2023 Wedding Trends
Saturday, February 25th, 2023
While your wedding is ultimately about expressing your personality and love, it may need a bit of a nudge to discover ideas and start planning in the right direction. Whether it's a beach vibe or a vintage black-tie wedding, there are a few trends emerging in 2023 that we're here to share.
DIY Formalities One way you can personalize your wedding is by adopting an entirely different structure for the ceremony. If you'd like, skip the traditional type wedding vow format with a unique, symbolic celebration. The main thing is to research the legality of your wedding, so that if you do decide to have an alternative approach officiated, it'll still be recognized by law!
Green/Eco Consciousness Weddings can pile up quite a carbon footprint, between travel requirements, food waste, and other logistical components. With current climate issues, eco-friendly weddings are on the rise as more couples prioritize sustainability at their celebration. Choosing a venue that has a commitment to sustainability and a location that most of the guests can reach without air travel is a great place to start. Consider using a locally grown or plant-based menu.
Disposable Cameras and Candid Photos We’ve already seen a comeback of disposable cameras as a popular wedding trend in recent years, and their popularity as a wedding prop only seems to be growing. Those one-use cameras are a great way to capture candid moments throughout the day and night of the celebrations, which usually results in unique and spontaneous photos. And you don't need to replace the professional photographer; it's just another fun way to elevate the occasion.
The year is young and there's more to come. Watch this space for more 2023 wedding trends!

Mardi Gras!
Tuesday, February 21st, 2023
Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, is a traditional holiday and popular cultural event celebrated in many parts of the world, but perhaps most famously in New Orleans, Louisiana. It represents a time for carnival parades and letting loose before the start of the more sober season of Lent. According to one theory, Mardi Gras has its roots in ancient Rome, and in the pagan festival Saturnalia, which was a time of revelry in honor of the god Saturn.
Thousands of years later, the tradition has continued, and Mardi Gras has become a beloved festivity, with people flocking from all over the world to participate and enjoy elaborate parades, featuring masks, themed floats, colorful beads and feathers, and other decorations. Participants are often dressed in brightly colored costumes, dancing in the streets or playing music, and throwing beads to the crowds. But Mardi Gras isn't just about the parades. It's also a time for indulging in all sorts of food and drinks, with special treats like King Cake, a type of sweet pastry, which is a staple of the holiday. And no Mardi Gras celebration would be complete without a few libations, with many opting for the traditional hurricane cocktail.
So, if you're looking for a wild time and enjoy yourself, make sure to pick up your dancing shoes, a costume, and a healthy appetite before heading down to New Orleans to experience an epic Mardi Gras! And fear not, what happens on the float, stays on the float!

National Love Your Pet Day
Monday, February 20th, 2023
“Pets are humanizing. They remind us we have an obligation and responsibility to preserve and nurture and care for all life.” – James Cromwell.
It’s National Love Your Pet Day! Today’s a special day dedicated to our furry, scaly, and feathered friends, and how much joy they can bring to our lives.
Did you know that it has been scientifically proven that pets can reduce our stress levels? When we spend time with our pets, our body releases the feel-good hormones oxytocin and serotonin. Hanging out with our pets can even lower our cortisol (stress hormone) levels! Other benefits of keeping pets include opportunities for physical exercise, socializing, and emotional support. For children, taking care of a pet can teach responsibility, compassion, respect, and patience. Pets also teach us to live in the moment and remind us of our own mortality.
To celebrate National Love Your Pet Day, why not treat your pet to some extra attention, or to their favorite snack? We also offer a wide selection of awesome pet products here at Zazzle that you can even personalize! Or, why not have your favorite pet picture turned into a work of art? Our wonderful Zazzle LIVE designers can help you design a custom pet portrait which can be downloaded, or uploaded onto any Zazzle product!

Passionate Pisces
Sunday, February 19th, 2023
Today marks the start of Pisces season! Pisces is the final sign of the zodiac, with its season running from February 19 to March annually. This season is an ideal time to focus on de-stressing, and finding out what makes you the happiest.
Pisces people are thought to be gentle, compassionate, creative, and wise individuals who are always willing to help others due to their selfless nature. Pisces is a water sign, and is ruled by Neptune and Jupiter. Pisces people often enjoy art, music, and other creative pursuits, as they can express themselves freely through these mediums. Pisces is Latin for “fishes”, and its zodiacal constellation can be found in the northern sky between Aries and Aquarius. In the ancient Greek myth of Aphrodite and Eros, the two jump into a river to escape the monster Typhon, and then turn into fish. This myth is believed to be connected to the Pisces symbol of two fish. As the Pisces symbol features two fish swimming in opposite directions, it could symbolize the division of a pisces's attention between fantasy and reality!
If a special Pisces comes to your mind today, we’ve got an extensive selection of Pisces-themed merchandise that’ll simply wow them! We would like to wish a grounding, calming, and relaxing Pisces season to all of our Zazzlers.

We'll Drink to That!
Saturday, February 18th, 2023
Do we like a little bit of chardonnay in our lives? A little bit of malbec by our side. A little bit of sauvignon is all we need. A little bit of shiraz is all we see. A little bit of riesling in the sun. A little bit of pinot all night long. A little bit of prosecco, here I am. A little bit of wine makes me a fan (ah)! Don’t worry we haven’t popped open the wine yet to celebrate; we’re just full of excitement to tell you it’s Drink Wine Day – not that we need any excuse!
If you love trivia or if you’re interested to know more about your favorite alcoholic beverage, we have a few facts up our sleeve. The United States is one of the top countries for importing and selling wines with 4,613 wineries in California alone. Did you know that wine comes from a long and rich history, dating back to 6000 BC? Traces of cups and jars, along with wine presses and fermentation vats, were found on the archaeological site in Georgia. What’s fermentation, you ask? Well, without it your delicious wine wouldn’t taste nice, because alcohol fermentation converts sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide. So there you have it; a whole lot of science is packed into every bottle.
If you’d like to brush up on your wine knowledge before your next visit to the vineyard, you can access a whole glossary of terms here on Vinology.com. And if you’re feeling fancy, you can always get a custom engraved wine glass so you can toast this national holiday next year, and maybe invite friends over for karaoke. For now, you can sip back and relax!

Susan B. Anthony: The Woman, the Suffragette, the Legend!
Wednesday, February 15th, 2023
Channel your inner suffragette when celebrating one of the founding members of the suffrage movement! Susan B. Anthony was born on February 15th, 1820, in Adams, Massachusetts. Inspired by the Quaker belief that everyone is equal under God, she and her siblings over the years became activists for justice and the emancipation of slaves. She met Elizabeth Cady Stanton in 1851 and fought tirelessly for women to gain the right to vote. In 1872 she was even arrested for illegally voting, which brought national attention to the suffrage movement. In 1888, she helped merge the two largest suffrage organizations to create the National American Woman’s Suffrage Association. Sadly, she died in 1906, just 14 years before women were given the right to vote when the 19th Amendment was passed and added to the US Constitution.
As you're prepping for your own marches or grassroots campaigning, why not get your own feminist apparel, Susan B Anthony poster, or suffragette gear? Buy something for everyone in your organization! This inspiring woman should be celebrated for all the hard work she did to progress women's rights. As she said in a speech given in 1867: “Men, their rights, and nothing more; women, their rights, and nothing less.”

In the 1970s, the team across the U.S. created two conferences: the AFC (American Football Conference) and the NFC (National Football Conference). In a time where staying in touch is so accessible, it’s easy to become busy and overwhelmed with everyday life, which can get in the way of maintaining contact with loved ones. Little do you know that your call, message, letter, or text might just be what’s needed to completely turn someone's day around for the better. So today, on National Send a Card to a Friend Day, we encourage you to do just that, and send a letter to a friend!
Starting a letter can be hard for some, but here’s a few ideas on how to get it started. Consider this the best opportunity to tell someone what they mean to you and why. Tell them how they make you feel, reminisce over a special memory, or share exciting news. This could also be your chance to bury old grudges, say sorry for something you’ve done, or own up to something that you’re not proud of. And if you need the tools to write your letter, Zazzle has everything you need! Choose from a vast collection of pens, including this custom wooden pen. Pick out some fun writing paper from our fabulous collection of paper for writing. Here you'll find paper with borders or include your initials for monogrammed paper. And before you pop that letter into the mail, make sure you include a return address label.
Here’s a fun idea! With some everyday household items, you can make aged paper for a cool effect when sending your letter. Grab yourself a piece of white paper, a lighter, an old tea bag, and watch this YouTube tutorial to learn in just 3 minutes.

A Stitch in Time...
Monday, February 6th, 2023
Valentine’s Day is just over a week away, and the first rejuvenating days of spring aren’t too far around the corner either. However, despite these emerging bright spots, with the long winter beginning to drag ever so slightly, this time of year can seem a little dreary for many of us. Yep, February is a so-so month. But it doesn’t have to be. It can be a sew-sew month instead. We’re sure that last pun will soon have you in stitches, once you discover that February is, in fact, National Embroidery Month.
The history of embroidery is one that dates back centuries. According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, the earliest surviving embroideries are Scythian pieces from sometime between the 3rd and 5th centuries BC. However, tomb paintings from Ancient Egypt, artwork on vases from Ancient Greece, and other artefacts found during excavations in China suggest that embroidery was widespread at least several hundred years prior to that. Some online sources even trace embroidery back a staggering 30,000 years to Cro-Magnon man! All these years later, more modern forms of these ancient techniques are still being used to create enchanting artwork, clothing, and décor, while absorbing hobbies like quilting and cross-stitching are being recognized as effective ways to relieve stress.
If you’re looking for a creative outlet and a new indoor hobby to while away those last remaining cold, dark, winter evenings, then embroidery might be an ideal pastime. If, however, you’d prefer to just order some embroidered goods and have them delivered to your door, you can do that right here in our Zazzle Embroidery store.

Step into our "Everything You Need to Know Before Planning a Housewarming Party" article, then, and leave your shoes at the door, please. Think of this article as the house itself: in the foyer, or introduction, you’ll learn about the history of the housewarming party, and how it has evolved in recent years. In the heart of the article – and in the hearth of the house – we’ve detailed all the things you need to do before hosting the party, such as stocking up on finger food, jazzing up the rooms with minimalist decorations, and sending paperless invitations to your friends, family, and neighbors. Finally, in the conclusion – let’s say that’s, um, the backyard – you’ll discover some fun activities, socializing tips, and alternatives to the rather old-fashioned ‘grand tour’!
If you still need more advice, then we’re happy to recommend Spruce.com’s "How to Host an Easy Housewarming Party"; one wonderful suggestion here involves asking each guest to bring a business card or takeout menu for their favorite local spot. And of course, we’d also encourage you to check out our very own housewarming party décor and housewarming party stationery, both of which have made us many new friends over the years! Congratulations, once again!

The Poet's Holiday
Saturday, February 4th, 2023
Coming up with an original, heartfelt way in which to articulate your love on Valentine’s Day is easier said than done. "Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?" No, that’s not it. "How do I love thee; let me count the ways…" Nope, that won’t do either. "I love you 3000"? Hmmm, these all feel very uninspired, or as if they’ve been cribbed from somewhere else…
Fortunately, Zazzle is lucky to count a number of accomplished wordsmiths among its community of Independent Creators, and among its content writers, too! Our "What to Write in a Valentine’s Day Card & Valentine’s Day Quotes" article will provide you with a variety of ways in which to confess, profess, and express your love on February 14th. Whether the person in question is a treasured soulmate or a long-standing friend, there’s a quote or greeting in here to make every kind of Valentine swoon, blush, and giggle. We’ve even included some romantic quotes, if you’d like to impress the recipient with a cute, funny, or thoughtful saying!
As Good Housekeeping writes, it’s easy to lose the spark of Valentine’s Day creativity that we all had in elementary school; those were the days of heart-shaped candies, handmade cards, and papier-mâché teddy bears. And as Country Living points out, it’s hard to compare anyone to a summer’s day when we’re still coping with wintery weather. Despite these obstacles, however, the Today’s Moment team has always been a firm believer in amor vincit omnia: love conquers all!

Ain't Nothin' But a Groundhog
Thursday, February 2nd, 2023
The Inner Circle have gathered. The ceremonial stump has been erected. The proceedings are about to commence, and all-American hero Punxsutawney Phil is about to emerge from hibernation. When the famous groundhog pops his head out, what will he see? The shadow of six more weeks of winter, or the cloudy day that signals the start of spring?
That’s been the way in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania – and across North America – since 1887, when Groundhog Day was first celebrated. The custom was brought to the U.S. by German immigrants, who, in Europe, had seen the appearance of badgers and other small animals on Candlemas – a Christian feast held on February 2nd – as the sign of a long winter. It’s now evolved to the point that attendees of the Groundhog Day celebration speak in ‘Groundhogese,’ a special language used to communicate with Phil.
That’s been the way in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania – and across North America – since 1887, when Groundhog Day was… Whoops, apologies for the déjà vu; ‘Groundhog Day’ can also refer to the feeling of having experienced the same events over and over again, as per the 1986 movie. Whether you’re cozying up for a wintery February or getting ready to start a spring clean, check out our Groundhog Day gifts, which pay tribute to the elusive, clever, and supposedly immortal Punxsutawney Phil!

Black History Month Begins!
Wednesday, February 1st, 2023
In 1926, Carter G. Woodson, also known as "the Father of Black History," suggested that an event be held to educate people about black history and culture in America. By the 1960s and 1970s, Woodson’s ideas had evolved into a month-long celebration of the contributions of the African-American community, and thus February 1st now marks the commencement of Black History Month.
Woodson, a noted historian, and other prominent African-American leaders, including Jesse E. Moreland, founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH) in 1915, and in 1926, they sponsored a national Negro History Week, which they timed to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. According to Woodson, "those who have no record of what their forebears have accomplished lose the inspiration which comes from the teaching of biography and history." In other words, further education and research regarding the African-American experience in the U.S. would not only prove illuminating, but encouraging, too.
In 1976, Gerald Ford urged all Americans to recognize the important role that African Americans have played in our collective history, thereby formalizing Black History Month. To honor Black History Month, we recommend starting with a visit to this website to learn about the lectures, exhibitions, and cultural productions taking place around the country.
