Two Cats in the Yard Postcard

... remember that song? Two cats, one black and one orange, playing by a porch step in the front yard of an old house, with a background of red brick, blue gray carpet and wood, circular dishes, crumpled blanket, elegant rounded legs of a chair without a seat. The orange cat is looking at the black cat, and the black cat is looking at the photographer, or viewer. In the garden, green plants are growing after a long hard Canadian winter. The cats are frisky and playful in the afternoon rays of the springtime sunshine. I like the dynamic composition in this one - on the left of the cats, there's a lot of space, long shadows, feeling of movement into the picture; on the right of the cats, the flow has collected and begins to turn gracefully back on itself, beautiful energy and motion even in a static photo of a unique moment in time.
