Will You Marry Me? Personalized Ornament

When Dorr and Stephanie Eddy began making bread dough ornaments in their kitchen in 1971 they had no idea how popular their Christmas tree decorations would become. Today, after more than 44 years of distributing their Christmas tree ornaments through fine retailers and major department stores nationwide, their whimsical little ornaments are treasured by children and grownups all over the world!. This all started one evening in December, 1970 at the home of friends, John and Kathleen Holmes who had invited us for dinner with some other friends from work, a San Francisco advertising agency recently made famous by the series Mad Men! After dinner Kathleen said, we're going to make Christmas ornaments out of dough, and she'd gone to quite a bit of trouble mixing up the materials so we sat around a table and spent the next several hours having a blast! We still have some of those ornaments and they were pretty funny. During the next couple of weeks we made ornaments at home and used them for Christmas gifts to friends and family. In the years following we sold ornaments at the San Francisco Dickens Fair each Christmas, as well as gift shops and etc. Who would have know this would become our life's work! Many exciting things have happened, many lessons learned, and thousands of ornaments have been made and sold. While it is no longer possible for us to make all of the ornaments themselves, they are still individually hand made using many of the tools and techniques developed over the years. Calliope Designs ornaments are now made of a durable and lightweight polymer clay, and they are all still the original creations of Dorr Eddy. Continuing the family tradition, William Eddy has become the new owner bringing personalized Calliope ornaments to Zazzle.
