Power to the Flower

January, 2012 has barely made its mark on the calendar,
but with the south blanketed by temperatures in the 60's
the Daffodils in our yard broke ground ignoring any
words of warning that Mother Nature may have offered.
Like an excited child a lone flower appeared just as
the temperatures were predicted to dip below freezing.
Winter has just arrived; and will finally bring with it
the burning coldness of the breeze, and a true reason
for all of us to look forward to spring.
In the days between now and then, like the Daffodil,
don't be afraid to stick your head above the ground
and even if only for one day; breath deeply and celebrate being alive.
