Chinese New Year Cards 2024

Chinese New Year is almost upon us, and that means searching for a card that promises wealth, good fortune and happiness. Luckily enough, our Independent Creators make a living from granting people’s wishes, and so they’ve uploaded thousands of eye-catching, customizable Chinese New Year greeting cards to this page. Commemorate the beginning of 2024, Year of the Dragon, by reading the following walkthrough – and then shop Chinese New Year cards on Zazzle today!!

Celebrating Chinese New Year in 2024

For those unfamiliar with the holiday, Chinese New Year marks the start of a new lunar year in the traditional Chinese calendar. Unlike the West, which uses a solar calendar, Chinese communities operate according to lunar cycles. The commencement of a new year in China is determined by the first new moon after the winter solstice, and thus the date on which New Year takes place fluctuates from year to year. In 2024, then, Chinese New Year will fall on February 10. Those familiar with the festival will also probably know that 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, the fifth animal in the Chinese zodiac, and that those born in 1988, 2000, 2012 or 2024 are said to possess untold charm, power, vigor and intelligence! That’s why dragons feature rather prominently on our Chinese New Year invitations and Chinese New Year décor, too.

Customize Your Own Chinese New Year Cards

Whether you’re celebrating Chinese New Year or have stumbled across this page in your search for other types of New Year stationery, we’ve made it very easy to browse and modify templates on Zazzle. If you’re reading this in say, January 2024, and want to see our most trending and timely New Year products, then visit our 2024 Chinese New Year cards page. All of the designs you see here have been uploaded by our Independent Creators, and with the ‘Personalize’ button, you can input a greeting that wishes the recipient success and good health in the coming year. And of course, if you don’t see any design that you like enough to put in a lucky red envelope, then work with a blank template on our custom New Year’s cards page.

What to Write in a Lunar New Year Card

It can be difficult if you want to send someone a Chinese New Year card but aren’t familiar with the culture yourself; sending someone a card completed in their own language is also a thoughtful gesture, but it’s easier said than done! Fortunately, Zazzle has brushed up on its pinyin (phonetic symbols: 拼音) and hànzì (the Chinese characters: 漢字). Below is a list of traditional greetings and sayings to help you – and your Mandarin-speaking friend – to ring in the New Year. If you want to copy them into your design, we’d recommend using either the Chinese characters or the English translation, as the Romanized words in the middle (e.g. "Xīnnián hǎo") are mainly for pronunciation purposes. Find a line you like, and you can even transfer it to your Chinese New Year gifts!

  • 新年好 - Xīnnián hǎo – "Happy New Year!"
  • 春节快乐 - Chūnjié kuàilè – "Happy Spring Festival!"
  • 心想事成 - Xīn xiǎng shì chéng – "May all your wishes come true"
  • 吉祥如意 - Jíxiáng rúyì – "Good fortune, according to your wishes!"
  • 身体健康 - Shēntǐ jiànkāng – "Enjoy good health!"
  • 阖家幸福 - Héjiā xìngfú – "Happiness for the whole family!"
  • 恭喜发财,红包拿来 - Gōngxǐ fācái, hóngbāo ná lái – "Wishing you happiness and prosperity; give me a red envelope!"
