PHOTOGRAPHY

Steven J Natanson was born in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of five he moved to Northern California. He has lived in Texas and New Mexico and currently resides in Newport Rhode Island.

He started taking photographs at a very young age, borrowing cameras from his parents. At the age of 8 he was given his first of many cameras. In his 12th summer, while attending summer camp, he received his first exposure to a darkroom. That autumn he bought and set up his own darkroom. In the 70’s he acquired an Olympus OM-2, one of many cameras in his current collection. This was to be his main camera until 2009 when he purchased a Nikon D-90.

A life long photographer he is now showing his work on the web and galleries in Rhode Island.


MAZES

I started drawing maze in high school, after going through a divorce I was attempting to find a way to express my thought and feeling. Though I had taken a few art classes I have no formal training in art. These mazes were very personal to me and became a diary of where I was at or am. Friends who saw them wanted copies to attempt to work them out, by word of mouth, more people wanted to attempt them, in 1985 I self-published my first book.

I now have 5 books, note cards, postcards, prints, tote bags, tee shirts and the original draws available for purchase.

I am currently working on a sixth book.
