Earth And Venus Per Martineau (cards)
This image was inspired by the remarkable work of John Martineau, in "A Little Book of Coincidence". Five tiled spiral galactic (NGC300) planes form the background. The perigee and apogee relationship between Earth and Venus is described by a nested pentagram pair. The orbit of Venus is represented by the larger sphere (with the Sun in its center), and smaller sphere has the Earth at its center. The five inner spheres just fit inside the outer circle to touch the inner sphere. The radius ratio of outer circle to smaller circle is phi ** 4. Spheres are used to represent the circles for artistic effect, and the outermost five spheres are decorative only. More info: http://www.GeometryCode.com. I think John Martineau's name will (some day, hopefully soon!) be heralded among Kepler, Galileo, Newton and Einstein for the astronomical discoveries he's made. Here's a link to John's book if you haven't seen it (HIGHLY recommended): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0802713882/intent-20 (Created with POV-Ray http://www.povray.org)
