I think they should get out, if they don't try to even learn the language. Illegal or NOT. My ancestors from Germany had to learn English. When I was stationed in Italy, I learned Italian. It's not that hard if you put some damned effort into it. I'm also tired of wasted time on the phone by having to listen to, "Press 2 for Spanish". Why not also put on there, "Press 3 for Arabic". you know why that isn't on there? because they at least have learned English when they come here and open up a hotel or a quickie mart. enough said.

This is America, we speak English here. When I travel to other countries, I speak the local language, such as German, French, Spanish, and Italian. Respect the culture of this country as well as that of other countries.

I have to say that some people just cant take a good joke! I think that this shirt is hilarious. Im not asking every immigrant to speak perfect english, but at least make an effort. We are not talking about the past when europeans began immigrating to the New world. We are talking about the present. There is a problem when you go to a store and you cant find a single person who speaks english or who's willing to for that matter. So all I can say is take it easy and don't be so critical. Yes, I believe that to live in this country you should learn to speak English. My father is a Dutch immigrant, and he speaks English very well. In fact, he is so used to speaking English that when we visited Holland a few years ago, he spoke to his own countrymen in English! However, it is very arrogant and rude to make fun of others for not speaking our language all the time. Maybe they like to speak their native language to each other. I am okay with that as long as they speak English to us. Please, be openminded. Also, I have noticed that those of you who are the most angry about people not speaking English in our country cannot even write correctly in that very same language, and you grew up speaking it as well! There is a name for that...hypocrisy.

Consider becoming a literacy volunteer. My Italian grandmother didn't speak English when she arrived to work, live, and raise a family here, but someone took the time to teach her. By the way, when I visited Italy (ironically, land of my birth by virtue of my father being stationed there with the Army at the time) I only spoke English and no one told me to "get out."

These people moved here and don't even have enough thanks or care for the USA to learn our language? My Grandparents were born in Germany, I don't speak a lick of German. When I was living in central Florida I began to feel like I was living in a foreign country. The minute I got out of my car in any parking lot I was listening to spanish. All through the store, at the register, in the bank, the post office, the doctor's office..surrounded by people speaking in a language I couldn't understand. I think it is rude and obnoxious to live -not visit- here and behave this way. My ancestors came from Denmark and learned English! Right now most of us would be speaking various languages if our ancestors hadn't bothered to learn English. Make the attempt...Maybe the shirt should say "learn to speak English" but I approve of the message.
