Living on San Juan Island, in the Pacific Northwest, brings all kinds of unexpected encounters, almost everyday! Those unexpected encounters are most often with wildlife of the land and sea. Most of my images are of the killer whales that I watch regularly - when they are here of course! My passion for the whales came first, long before I moved to the island. However, it was the whales that brought me here and then I could not leave. From that came my job at The Whale Museum, in the main town -Friday Harbor, on the island. There's no better place for me to be able to share my passion about the Southern Resident Endangered Orcas than as the coordinator of the Orca Adoption Program. Overlapping both was my desire to know just who the whales are,(they are families) and so I began with a video camera. It wasn't long before I purchased a digital camera that could take quality images of fast-moving objects! And so I began to watch. And what an adventure it has been and continues to be!
