Most of the paintings are somewhere in between a caricature and realism. I use one or more photo references. It doesn’t matter what the model looks like because I change their appearance into my own style. The main thing I use a reference photo for is the pose and lighting. Sometimes I’ll think of a painting, but other times I’ll see a great photo and build an idea around it. The thing is that I’m not too political or love/hate any issues enough to paint them. Maybe someday. I love the Lowbrow and Pop-surrealism art movements and the other art movements that go hand in hand with them.
