Retrospect 2009 calendar
by fahrmboyLooking back at the past
Abandoned places are neither alive, nor dead, but somewhere in between. It is the conflicting human desire to both remember and to forget which keeps them frozen in time, both in memory and in reality.
There is a subconscious feeling that abandonments are home to trapped spirits that haunt us, but I think it's the other way around. It's these places in which we lived and in where our past exists that are trapped within us, even as they crumble. To enter them is to enter the memories and inner demons of another person.
It's only when we look back in retrospect that we understand these places and the stories they have to tell.
