Sande Elkins ~ Equine Portraiture

I've always been creative. The need to make art has always been a part of me, woven into my soul on the day I was born. For over twenty five years, I created whimsical wood sculpture that I sold in galleries and at shows all over the world. It was a wonderful life and I met so many wonderful people through my work but after so many years, I decided that my creative wells were running dry and it was time to try something new. The only problem was, I had no idea what that something was. I tried different mediums but my true inspiration came when my husband gave me a wonderful gift, a beautiful, dapple gray mare named Mouse. She became my inspiration, my muse and my passion. I started photographing her and soon others were asking me to photograph their horses. The photography led to other mediums and other opportunities. Now I'm still creating my photography and art and I'm also publishing a horse related magazine. Life is good and as long as I can spend at least part of my day with horses my heart is filled with joy. This is Gray Horse Designs Studios and I'm Sande Elkins.
