SIT (Amsterdam, 1976)
Sit bursted on the Amsterdam art scene some years ago with his mixed media artwork but became more and more dissatisfied with what he was seeing around him. He got fed up with our manipulated and superficially society. It was time to go back to square one. Sit had to detox from bits and bytes, media, hypes, lovers, haters and colours to find the true essence of creativity again. No more digital drama. No BS. And came up with a very successful exhibition called UNWIRED.
UNWIRED
UNWIRED is the documented process of his everyday struggle to get unwired. The progress from feeling lost to finding purity. It not only took him a full year to transfer his new found creativity in images, but also to master new kinds of technique and skills. Only then he felt he finally had enough work to represent the new ´Sit´. All documented in black and white. UNWIRED shows us we are all sick bastards who should all wear straitjackets. So you know. No BS. Black and white. Right and wrong. Love and hate. Adore and despise.
UNWIRED showed from March till May 2008 at the Go Gallery in Amsterdam.
SITAKI 2058
SITAKI , Japanese for half human half monkey, displays what happens if our wildlife would inhabit the world we witnessed in UNWIRED. When mother nature itself creates a new meaning for all places deserted by mankind. Endearing but harsh. Finally Sit feels he can leave the world he created in UNWIRED safely behind. You too should give way to mother nature in your life. Peace.
SITAKI 2058 exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair in Amsterdam from October 31- November 2 2008
