Hi, I'm Sonya; I live a little North of Seattle, in Shoreline, Washington.

I've been drawing and taking pictures since I can remember. My work is reflective of my love for the natural world; I studied scientific illustration, and have a deep affection for creatures and plants of all kinds.

The illustrated work you see here is my original art, combined with ephemera and antique papers to give it a timeless look.

The photos are from a trip I recently took to visit Dutch Harbor, Alaska. It was a stunningly beautiful place. The town is centered around the fishing industry, and I got to meet some of the people involved in filming the Discovery channel show, Deadliest Catch.

While I was there, I saw eagles, whales, seals – and some of the nicest people I've met anywhere. And there's something about the light up there that makes the landscapes glow.
